I am sorting out the Baker valve gear and the valve rod seems to foul the motion bracket. Since the valve rod does not line up exactly with the bell crank, I wonder if the drawing for the motion bracket is incorrect.

You don't say whether the eccentric rod and the gear connecting rod line up correctly. If they do could the mis allignment be in the valve chest area? If this is the case either shim or use gasket papaer to correct the allignment

The misalignment is in the horizontal plane. That's why I think the motion bracket drawing is incorrect.
